Our History & Origin
According to a prevalent legend, in ancient times, the eastern Bhakiyas traveling from Okhaldhunga, Ramechhap, and Dolakha in the north to Dhanusha district would rest at this place by setting down their traditional baskets (doko). Following the linguistic tradition of the indigenous Danuwar community, the place was named "Dokaha," which over time became "Dakaha." The school, established in Dakaha, was named "Saraswati" after the goddess of knowledge, following the religious culture, as decided by the then education-loving dignitaries.
The Danuwar community cleared the forest on the flat land along the north-south banks of the Kamala River and made it habitable, establishing their own settlement. This fact is evident from local legends and various evidence. Even the naming of villages, neighborhoods, and settlements here follows the language and culture of the indigenous Danuwar community, indicating that the Danuwar people were the original inhabitants of this area. Over time, with migration and development, this area now has significant populations of Brahmin, Chhetri, Tamang, Magar, Majhi, Musahar, Damai, Kami, Sarki, Newar, Sunuwar, Dum, and other castes.
